How to Remove Goalie Equipment Odor
OK, goalies for any sport have to wear extra protective gear. This gear can build up a bad equipment odor, but that shouldn’t mean goalies have to smell worse than any of their other teammates. For years the stink was just an accepted part of the sport. Well let me tell you something coming from 25 years in the cleaning industry: If it smells bad, it’s not healthy. Cleaning requires removal of unwanted pollutants. A spray just can’t do that.

I must say that at first, I was a bit skeptical about your product, but on Tuesday night I washed all of my goalie equipment. I had no idea just how dirty my equipment was and I am proud to say that it no longer smells. I had washed it and aired it out plenty of times, but it always still had a slight “funk” to it, and after wearing my equipment two or three times, it smelled terrible again. After using your product, it no longer has a “funk”. I haven’t played in my equipment yet, but my next practice is on Sunday, and I plan on keeping you updated on the equipment’s smell. Shoe Deodorizer Spray
There are many shoe deodorizer sprays out there. Some of them claim to kill odors in seconds or spray on some type of chemical that has a perfume scent. Others claim to molecularly change odor molecules. Still others are powders that say they dry up moisture. 
If you want to remove the smell from a dress shoe, sneaker, running shoe, boot, or sport cleat, it only gets removed by cleaning out all of the root causes of odor. So what are the root causes? Soil, sweat, oils, bacteria, mold, and mildew are at the top of the list.
One of the biggest problems with odor sprays is what people usually do immediately after spraying: They smell the shoe to see if the odor is instantly gone. Well think about what they’re doing; They’re inhaling the cleaner they just sprayed on! If your cleaning product is an aerosol, you probably just inhaled even finer particles of some sort of odor-neutralizing chemical. This is far from healthy!
Think carefully about ever spraying any deodorizer and then immediately trying a test smell. If you’re going to use a spray for anything:
- Spray away from your face, friends, pets, or children.
- Stay away from aerosol products (a finer mist stays airborne longer).
- Wait 5 minutes after applying before smelling.
