Odor Proof your Apparel, Gear and Footwear

So most of us deal with odor after the fact. Odor proofing is something that a few of the smart retailers are attempting to do. Some companies are building odor protection onto their product during the manufacturing process. This entails pretreating articles with products that inhibit the formation of odor from the get-go. Makes sense to be more proactive when it comes down to the prevention of stinky, foul smelling gear, clothing, and footwear.

The issue at hand is, do pre-treated products gradually loose their odor repelling properties after use? The answer is yes. This loss rate depends on the intensity of the use and cleaning of the treated article. So what should consumers know?  If odor protection was initially built in, it will wear out with use. So aftermarket applications will always be necessary.

Implementation of advanced odor protecting technology requires properly formulated products and procedures. A few companies have created that combination for their premium line of odor cleaners and protectors.  We all know that just masking, changing molecular structure or disinfecting does not remove all of the pollutants that cause the odor.  The proof is in the procedure and you can do it yourself with the right odor management cleaning and protection system.

You can restore, pretreat, maintain or reatreat your stuff yourself but you need premium products to do so. Manufacture applied or consumer applied odor protection can be maintained with cleaners and detergents that remove pollutants that restrict odor inhibiting properties. You can easily apply odor eliminating technology with long lasting protection yourself. OdorBalance has developed the first long lasting odor proofing cleaners and protection products that Pretreat, Restore, Protect, and Maintain textiles, gear, and footwear. Trying it sells it.  www.odorbalance.com

Testimonial from a Runner

I wanted you to know that I just tried a sample of OdorBalance that I got at a Bayhawks game over the summer and it was spectacular! I washed some super-stinky running clothes in LaundryPro that had been sitting for two days. They were so gross that I relegated them to the empty bathtub instead of the laundry room before I washed them. LaundryPro took out any odors, including sour smells and that dry-fit disgusting smell. I am ordering the full size right now and am planning on using it for our towels that we use on the boat every weekend.

Thanks so much,
Laura

Prevent shoes from smelling

There is such thing as odor prevention for your shoes. You can pre-treat your tennis shoes, running sneakers, cleats, dress shoes, boots, sandals and slippers from the causes of odor the day you purchase them. Forget dealing with stinky footwear.

Now you can odor proof your new shoes before bacteria, sweat and soil get their teeth into your footwear. OdorBalance Overtime spray will provide an invisible odorless barrier inhibiting the growth of the things that create the funk.

Don’t fight the stink after it is there. Stop it before it sets in.

Get the odor out of smelly baseball cleats

Baseball cleats get a really funky smell during the season. Most baseball players or their parents just live with it. But what can you do to get rid of the stinky smell in sweaty dirty baseball cleats? It’s easy. You need to clean them correctly.

Cleaning is defined as:
The purposeful activity of removing soil and unwanted pollutants from a surface to reduce damage or harm to human health or valuable materials. It is the process of locating, identifying, containing, removing and properly disposing of unwanted substances from an environment or material. -IICRC S100 2012

Topical disinfectants, odor eliminating fragrances, odor absorbing balls or molecularly changing odor molecules do not remove unwanted pollutants that cause the odor in the first place. Removing odor requires removal of the causes of odor. Things like bacteria, mold, mildew and soil. So if you want to get the funk out of your baseball cleats, proper cleaning is essential.

First:
Scrub the cleat by hand in a bucket of water, kitchen sink or mop sink with a detergent that is designed to remove the pollutants that cause the odor. OdorBalance® Offense odorless, eco-friendly concentrated cleaner will do this. Using 2 oz per gallon, a little elbow grease and fully submerging cleat will remove most of the soil and odor in about 2-3 minutes. ** Heavily soiled cleats may require changing out soiled solution to restore item.

Second:
Dip the cleat in odorless, non allergenic OdorBalance® Defense to provide long lasting odor protection. Using 2 oz per gallon, fully submerging cleats in a solution and wait about 2 minutes.

Now you have clean, odorless restored cleats. All you need to do is dry them. To speed dry place near fan or near HVAC register or just leave them in the sun for a few hours. ** Do not recommend placing cleats in dryer using high heat. This may alter soles, leather or plastic/rubber parts

Our OdorBalance product line is perfect to not only clean your cleats, but also protect and maintain them from future odors and their sources.

Footwear Odor

Odor in shoes can be removed if properly cleaned. Odor is caused when different parts of the shoe react to unwanted pollutants like soil, sweat, and bacteria. A running sneaker, for instance, is made up of several different parts. Each part is unique in its physical design. Parts vary in porosity, textile design, thickness and color creating cleaning challenges.

In used shoes, staining and foul odors can develop if they are allowed to remain in a moist environment and food sources for microbial growth are present. Odor protection can be applied to or built into a new shoe. If cleaning is required to remove odor, an odor restoration product like OdorBalance Offense is necessary to clean out soil, moisture, and other unwanted pollutants. Then OdorBalance Defense can replenish or initiate a protective odor barrier. Complete drying is necessary to prevent the development of future breeding grounds.
