How to Dry Sports Equipment

One of the most important things you can do for sports equipment is get it dry as quickly as possible after use. Wet clothing and sweaty equipment may stay damp for days after use, and that can create breading grounds for bacterial growth.

Wet clothing, towels, shoes, and sports equipment can get really smelly in a short amount of time if moisture is not removed quickly. Anything that is untreated or unprotected from microbial growth in dark, wet environments with little or no air movement can develop that moldy mildew smell. Soon after the stains and odors can set in and begin to ruin what you wear.

How can you most effectively dry your sports equipment?

1. Remove them from gym bags, lockers, hampers, closets, and vehicles as soon as possible after transportation or use.
2. Move them to a place where there is some air movement.

Sports Gear Cleaning and Maintenance

I never really thought about maintaining my sports equipment until it started to fail, but just like our bodies, if you don’t take care of your gear, eventually it will break down.
