Will odor come back after OdorBalance treatment?
The short answer is: eventually, but not for a long time!
Generally after just one treatment of OdorBalance, odors won’t return for an entire sports season! OdorBalance cleaning and odor protection system has been formulated specifically to address odors caused by the combination of sweat, soil, oil, mold, mildew, and stains on sports gear, sports apparel and footwear. And because of its unique bonding chemistry and technology, OdorBalance provides long-lasting protection from odors.
Porous surfaces that harbor odor below the surface may require additional cleaning time, but using our system will remove odor and keep your articles odor free. Reapplication may be necessary with heavily soiled, high-use gear and footwear. Generally we recommend that OdorBalance be applied prior to each sports season for long-lasting protection.

How does OdorBalance technology work?

Not technical enough? The active ingredients in OdorBalance form a colorless, odorless, positively charged, nano-sized polymer which bonds to the treated gear, apparel, and footwear. Should I wear protective gloves when washing and agitating items in OdorBalance Offense and Defense?
While these solutions are very safe for your skin in their diluted strengths, if multiple items are going to be treated you may want to wear rubber gloves. In addition if you normally experience skin irritations from cleaning solutions, wear rubber gloves to be safe.
What preparation is necessary prior to applying the OdorBalance Defense treatment?
Used surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned using OdorBalance Offense and/or LaundryPro. Any residue from prior cleaning agents must be rinsed from the surface before treatment.
New items should be treated with OdorBalance LaundryPro, Defense, or Overtime immediately after purchase or before first use.
Should I take my wedding/engagement rings or other jewelry off while I’m using OdorBalance?
You don’t need to take your jewelry off. OdorBalance products are noncorrosive.
Why does the wash water become brown once I start agitating and scrubbing the gear?
OdorBalance Offense is designed to not only eliminate the causes of the odor but also clean using detergent properties that are formulated to pull soil from the articles being treated. You know the product is working effectively when it turns brown. Make a new wash as necessary or when the water becomes very soiled.
Is the Offense wash still working when water begins to turn brown?
Yes, it’s still working. Our formula has a premium surfactant (detergent) built in. When you use an Offense wash, you neutralize odor while removing unwanted pollutants (soil, sweat, etc) at the same time. Make a new wash when it gets really brown.
How often should I wash my apparel (jerseys and sportswear) in OdorBalance LaundryPro?
Use LaundryPro each time your sports clothing and apparel need laundering. Of course your clothes can still get dirty, but each time items are washed with LaundryPro, additional odor protection will be added.
Is OdorBalance safe to use in high efficiency washing machines?
Yes. Both OdorBalance Offense/Defense Gear Wash and OdorBalance LaundryPro Detergent are safe to use in high efficiency washing machines.
Can I wash my towels in LaundryPro?
Yes. The technology bonds to any surface and will help prevent the bad smell that towels can develop. After several washings with LaundryPro, you will notice a substantial (if not total) reduction of foul odors left behind from wet towels.
Can you use fabric softeners or dryer sheets on moisture wicking apparel?
No, we don’t recommend it. Typically, fabric softeners (including dryer sheets) should not be used on moisture wicking apparel because these products can leave a wax-like film on the fibers. This wax closes up openings in the knit pattern that help keep you dry and cool. Our OdorBalance detergent is specifically designed to restore moisture wicking apparel by removing residual film that inhibits these properties.
Is OdorBalance LaundryPro safe to discard in a septic system?
Yes, LaundryPro is a premium laundry detergent that can be discarded in all sanitary waste disposal systems. Its odor-free, hypoallergenic, hydrophobic (repels water), anti-static, eco-friendly composition will make even Mother Nature smile.
Where can I get rid of the wash that’s already been used?
The diluted solution can be discarded in an approved sanitary disposal system. All OdorBalance products are eco-friendly and biodegradable.
Since the treatment is permanent, what happens when treated items are discarded or thrown away?
When placed in a landfill, items treated with our technology will break down to basic components in about five years.
Can you reuse the wash (save it to use later)?
No, one 16 oz bottle treats approximately one full set of gear. For example, a lacrosse player could treat his/her shoulder pads, arm pads, and gloves. After that, the used water should be discarded into a sanitary disposal system. If you haven’t used the whole bottle, it’s fine to use what’s left in the bottle at a later time.
What causes body odor?
The average human body has three to four million sweat glands. Sweat is odorless. Fluid from sweating in combination with skin bacteria produces the familiar odor recognized as body odor. Additionally, some individuals sweat more that others or have specific medical conditions that can increase body odor.
Where did the technology behind OdorBalance come from?
